Why Can’t You Sleep?

Do you find yourself awake in the middle of the night unable to sleep?

Drink warm milk?

Watch television?

Claudia takes advantage of the time she can’t sleep, to do things like paint her living room!  During the day she is so tired she often worries that she will fall asleep while doing the shopping or driving her mother to her many doctors appointments.

When Claudia tries to help her daughter, Cassie, with her homework she is so fatigued that the cob webs are too thick to think!  Cassie is on her own.

She was in tears the other day when we had lunch because Cassie’s grades are sliding and her mom’s bed sore is getting worse, since she’s been too exhausted to keep up with the frequent repositioning suggested by the nurse.

“What am I supposed to do?!  Why can’t I sleep?” Claudia sobbed.

Why Can’t You Sleep?

  • If you are sedentary you can expect to have difficulty sleeping.
  • Overuse of technology is a great way to cause sleeplessness.
  • Eating empty calories interferes with sleep in several ways.
  • Your chaotic bedroom will definitely contribute to sleeplessness and poor quality sleep.
  • Your breathing can make you sick AND drastically effect the quality of your sleep.

 

Claudia didn’t think any of these issues were her problem.  Nothing she tried seemed to help.

Though she admitted that she, “just didn’t get the breathing aspect and what that had to do with it.”

I challenged Claudia to show up each week for The Life Breath Club’s 60 minute discussion of breath awareness and get serious about her Personal Sacred Breathing Program.

Claudia didn’t think that she was sick, so she didn’t think the information applied to her for a few weeks, but she kept coming.

One week, Claudia heard something on the call about emotional processing.

“That was a light bulb moment,” she admitted later.

“I see that it is hard to allow the emotions I feel watching my mother suffer.”

“I see that I feel guilty for feeling burdened with her care.”

“I see that my depression is effecting my ability to mother my daughter and I want to do something about it.”

Claudia’s light bulb moment helped her to see that natural cures for insomnia weren’t working because she was too depressed to consistently apply any of the action steps to implement them!

Just becoming aware of the emotions she was stuffing helped Claudia to stop holding her breath and breathe through all the challenges that normally caused her to self sabotage.

 

What Can You Do To Get More Sleep?

 

Claudia says that joining The Life Breath Club was the first step in recognizing her suppressed emotion.

“I use to wake up at 2am and curse at the clock, now I turn my attention to my Sacred Breath.”

For Claudia, the change came when she accepted night time waking as the perfect time to feel those difficult feelings she couldn’t allow during the day.

“The magic happens after I allow my feelings and maybe cry a bit.  I sleep like a baby for blissful chunks of time.  I will repay my sleep debt with pleasant naps.  I’m glad I know that now.”

A Healthy Diet Plan is about what you don’t eat as much as it is about what you do!

Do Processed Foods Have Any Place In Your Healthy Diet Plan?

What does the term “processed foods” actually mean?

Do visions of t.v. dinners, cookies and chips (or do you call them crisps?) come to mind?

Do you think of canned meats and roasted nuts?

Is bread a processed food, or part of a healthy diet plan?

The term “processed foods”, for all practical purposes, means food that is less wholesome and possibly harmful.

Fruits and veggies become less and less wholesome from the moment they are picked, but are far more wholesome than anything that comes out of a box or can.

Any type of cutting or grinding allows oxidation of the food stuff, and nutrition is lost.

Flour is completely pulverized grains.

Just because your bread is brown, doesn’t mean it is more wholesome!

Eating 100% whole wheat products is a step in the right direction, but you are still eating a grain that has been through a lot since it left the field, and wheat is a common allergen.

Genetic modification takes bread to a new level of processed!

Wheat AND ALL white flour foods are problematic!

Flour Foods

  • breads/muffins (except those of the sprouted variety)
  • pastries/doughnuts
  • cakes
  • pies
  • cookies
  • pasta (GASP!)

 

The foods that are part of the culture that you grow up in become more than just your favorite foods.  They become a connection to the past, comfort foods.

Making healthy diet plan choices is about seeing food from a different perspective!

Process emotional “stuff” and you will eat less junk food!

Unconscious eating (and shopping) isn’t planning for health by any stretch of the imagination.

You don’t want to worry about your food, but planning for health means putting more organic produce in your shopping cart and on your plate.

The real test of character is to stay nice in the face of screaming toddlers, crazed teen agers, mid-life crisis, earth shattering transition, loss of treasures, and betrayal.

We are talking major spiritual work here.

 

The World Is Your Mirror

Your friends are your mirrors.

When you make a new friend, you get the chance to see what kind of energy you are sending out to the universe.

Like energy attracts. You can’t attract un-like energy.

Don’t be too quick to judge new friends.  The lesson is for you.

Judgments that arise in your mind are really just messages about something you can’t see in yourself.

If you run into hostile people or helpful humorous people you will get a sense of what kind of energy lives within you.

Joy has a very high vibration, depression has a very low vibration.

You can re-tune your vibrational frequency by CHOOSING to keep your focus looking up.

However, if you have a suppressed emotion, you will bump into its mirror image somewhere in the world and it will give you the opportunity to release it and be free at last.

Re-focus on your Joyful vibration with a happy memory immediately.

Choose to keep your eyes on the prize.  Those suppressed feelings won’t hurt you if you let them out and be done with it at long last!

Don’t feed bad energy!  BREATHE it away!

American health officials declared a public health emergency as cases of swine flu were confirmed in the U.S. Health officials across the world fear this could be the leading edge of a global pandemic emerging from Mexico, where seven people are confirmed dead as a result of the new virus.

On Monday April 27th, the World Health Organization (WHO) raised its pandemic alert level to four on its six-level threat scale,1 which means they’ve determined that the virus is capable of human-to-human transmission.

The initial outbreaks across North America reveal an infection already travelling at higher velocity than did the last official pandemic strain, the 1968 Hong Kong flu.

The number of fatalities, and suspected and confirmed cases across the world change depending on the source, so your best bet — if you want the latest numbers — is to use Google Maps’ Swine Flu Tracker.

Several nations have imposed travel bans, or made plans to quarantine air travelers2 that present symptoms of the swine flu, such as:

* Fever of more than 100
* Coughing
* Runny nose and/or sore throat
* Joint aches
* Severe headache
* Vomiting and/or diarrhea
* Lethargy
* Lack of appetite

Top global flu experts are trying to predict how dangerous the new swine flu strain will be, as it became clear that they had little information about Mexico’s outbreak. It is as yet unclear how many cases occurred in the month or so before the outbreak was detected. It’s also unknown whether the virus was mutating to be more lethal, or less.
