When You Think Colonoscopy Risks, Do You Think Kidney Damage?

colonoscopy risks

Kidney damage has been linked to a class of drugs that is very commonly given before a colonoscopy.

Do you want to risk the health of your kidneys?

What good will it do to verify your colon health if you are harming your kidneys in the process?

There is a “black box warning” on colon-cleansing drugs containing sodium phosphate, because they have been linked to permanent kidney damage resulting in a lifetime of dialysis as well as a host of other complications!

So WHY are these drugs very commonly prescribed as colon cleansers before a colonoscopy?

Are doctors unaware of the dangers?  Are they cheaper than other similar drugs?

Why the hell would they risk your kidneys?!

Good question!  Though the answer doesn’t really matter.  YOU can watch out for yourself on this one!

When you think colonoscopy risks, THINK about your kidneys!

Refuse these drugs:

  • Visicol
  • OsmoPrep

These are 2 of the drugs containing sodium phosphate.

A colonoscopy is a relatively safe procedure.  Please don’t risk long term injury by taking these drugs!

Of the few dangers associated with colonoscopy risks, kidney failure is BY FAR the most extreme.

Make sure that the nasty tasting beverage they give you to clean your bowel before your colonoscopy is not one that is linked to kidney failure!

Safer Alternative Precoloscopy-Colon-Cleansing Drugs

  • Miralax
  • Colyte
  • TriLyte

Make sure you are given the safe drug to prep with and then learn how your breathing can make you sick and what you can do about it pre op!

Are your lungs ready for colonoscopy risks?

Do You Have A Healthy Diet Plan?

healthy diet plan

Is what you eat healthy?

Are you a junk food junkie, or do you try to eat a healthy, well-balanced diet?

How do you know that what you are eating is actually healthy for you?

Go into your kitchen and look in your refrigerator and pantry.

Do you know what types of things should NOT be there?

Contrary to the lovely television commercials reassuring you that corn syrup is safe….. that is the first thing I recommend that you search for and eliminate from your kitchen.

When you begin searching, you will see that high fructose corn syrup is in everything!

Your body does not even recognize this stuff as a food source and does NOT secrete insulin to digest it when you eat it!

HFCS must be detoxed through your liver because your body is not digesting it.

If you eat enough high fructose corn syrup, you will crave it, BUT it isn’t really food!

Get it out of your kitchen.

Every time you resist health robbing foods, and choose fruits and vegetables instead, you improve your health instead of adding to your distress.

If you eat a diet of highly processed and chemicalized foods, odds are your palate is coated with yeasty build up so that you aren’t enjoying how wonderful Mother Nature’s goodies taste!

Increase your intake of fresh fruits and vegetables and your palate will be washed clean so that you can actually taste the wonderful subtle flavors of natural foods.

Replacing undesirable foods with wholesome foods will play a big role in your healthy diet plan.

What food to you need to stock in your kitchen in order to support a healthy diet plan?

If you remove from your kitchen all of the junk foods that tempt you, and only eat them when you are not at your home…. you will eat far less of these unhealthy foods.

It will be so much easier to choose healthy snacks when they aren’t hidden behind the potato chips and candy.

The good news here is that there are many choices to choose from when stocking healthy foods in your kitchen.

A healthy diet plan is only possible if you plan ahead.

The Weather Sucks, Why Is Exercise Important Anyway?

why is exercise so important

Weather messing with your exercise program?

I seem to be living under a perpetual gray cloud lately.  The clouds really aren’t all that bad, it’s the frigid trade winds that get to me.

Do you walk or jog first thing in the morning?

Isn’t it hard to get out there when it is raining, or worse yet snowing… and COLD?

You just feel like turning off the alarm and pulling the blanket over your head.

“Wake me up when it is sunny!”

Or maybe…. you are suffering at the other end of the spectrum.  Are your clothes dripping after your afternoon walk, and you feel like a noodle trying to lift a fork to your mouth at dinner?

The sun can really take it out of you, huh?

What is the alternative to suffering through the elements to get your daily exercise in?

Drive through traffic to the gym to run around in circles without a view?

Fun?  I don’t think so!

Why is exercise important anyway?

Is Exercise Worth Your Time?

  • Exercise strengthens your heart muscle.
  • If you lose muscle you lose bone.
  • Mental clarity is not associated with lazy people.
  • Exercise actually increases your metabolism AND your energy level.
  • Physical activity strengthens your immune system.

Are you still asking why is exercise important?

How can you keep the motivation-stealing weather from sabotaging your daily walk? Continue reading The Weather Sucks, Why Is Exercise Important Anyway?

Can a Detox Diet Help You Bring Your Life Into Focus?

detox diet

There aren’t enough hours in the day!

Seriously!  How do YOU get everything done?

Do you ever feel like you are chasing your tail?

That tail chasing feeling is usually accompanied by the nagging feeling that you are forgetting something.

Would you like more energy, more calm confidence, AND the ability to heal your suffering?

That is what a Sacred Breathing can do for you.

The problem is that unless you have some ulterior motive to improve performance, or your singing voice, you’re not likely to stick with the application of breath building exercises.

Are you sick and tired of being tense, stiff, and downright irritable?

If you don’t have time to make lifestyle changes and you don’t have time for food prep, what can you do?

Do you feel powerless to make changes that will help you?

How can a detox diet help stop the insanity?

Decrease the toxic load you are carrying around and you will reverse disease!

The 7 Stages of Disease

1.  nervous exhaustion

Not enough fuel.

2.  toxicity

Resulting from lack of energy.

3.  irritation

From building toxicity.

4.  inflammation

That’s when you feel it!

5.  ulceration

Toxicity eats away at tissues.

6.  induration

Your body tries to encapsulate the toxicity to protect itself.

7.  cancer

When the cells of your harmonious organism turn against you.

Irritation is actually one of the stages of disease!

The best way to get YOUR disease process moving backwards towards health is to pay attention to rest and diet.

For Starters:

  • Get plenty of sleep.
  • Drink at least half your body weight in ounces of WATER every day.
  • Nurture positive relationships.
  • Eat lots of fruits and vegetables in as close to a natural state as possible.
  • Make yourself top priority.

A detox diet is about making your insides cleaner so that your view of your life is crystal clear.

If you are just too over whelmed to make detox diet changes today, then let food be your medicine.

Add a nutritional supplement to your morning routine and see if that doesn’t make you feel better!

When you feel better, you’ll feel up to making more positive change!

Can America Afford Universal Health Care?

US Senator Barack Obama campaigning in New Ham...

The US can’t afford Universal Health Care if the FDA has anything to say about it!

Protecting the interests of the drug industry is very expensive.  There is no way any system can provide such a wasteful use of resources to all of its citizens.

Prioritizing profit over human life and productivity is insane, but that is exactly what is happening in the United States of America and every other country around the world to some degree.

Universal Health Care simply means health care for everyone.

Does everyone have the right to help when they are sick or injured?

Should you lose your home because you can’t pay for inflated medical bills.  (Look at your charges from the hospital!)

Very poor people can often access medical help in the US.

Depending on the state they live in, it might even be relatively decent care.

However, the working poor are in a bad place. They really can’t afford health care until they are fighting for their life and can’t afford to worry about the expense.

What a shame to work all your life and be denied care when you need it most!

I recently got an email from Dr. Julian Whitaker, urging me to put my signature on a petition to reform the FDA.

Thank you, Dr. Whitaker, for bringing my attention to this project.  I will gladly add my name to the list of citizens demanding that this government agency be completely restructured.

More money will not fix the FDA!

At this point, the agency admits that they lack the competency to keep up with scientific advances, and CANNOT determine if new drugs are safe or effective!

The agency can’t even promise us that our food supply is safe!

The worst part of this sad story is that rather than supporting the collaboration of the great scientific minds working to find natural remedies, Continue reading Can America Afford Universal Health Care?

Is Awareness Enough To Fight Heart Disease?

heart disease

“Being aware” is not an action step.

It may inspire you to take action, and it may not.

Making someone aware is lip service.  Asking good questions is a step in the right direction.  Discussion can give life to inspiration.

Inspired action requires that you get past denial.

Denial is very popular.  It feels good.  That is, until your problem gets right in your face.

Even though at this point, you are suffering the consequences of your denial, you may still cling to it.

Until you take back your power, you will not feel better, and you can’t heal from heart disease or any other disease.

Can you take inspired action, and still be in denial?

That is a good question.  Usually denial is what keeps you on the side line, or keeps you so attached to your disease process that you never seek help to heal.  If you can’t imagine yourself feeling good and living well, then you won’t be able to achieve it.

Recently I came across a story that tore my heart out.  The story is about a young woman who was definitely taking inspired action.
She was a role model for inspired action, and her family loved and cherished her.

She had struggled with a weight issue all her life.  Her family and friends, and even her “shrink”, considered her a hypochondriac and often joked with her about it.  (After all, she wasn’t too proud to admit that she was.)  Her many complaints fell on deaf ears, and she brushed any concern aside out of habit.

Until……her final complaint.

“I am so dizzy,” she told her mother over the phone.

Then the line went dead and a 19 years young woman, in the prime of her life, was gone.

Over the years she had learned to ignore her discomfort:

  • heavy sweating
  • not being able to catch her breath
  • being overtired
  • working hard to lose weight with little results
  • tendency to be “lazy”

This beautiful young woman lost her life to a congenital heart disease called myocardial bridging—a defect where an artery, instead of going where it’s supposed to in the heart actually goes through the heart muscle.

Her story was written by a close friend, who wishes that the American Heart Association would do a better job of raising awareness about Congenital Heart Defects, and remind people that often, genetics is the only cause.

Do you know that there are tests, treatments, and surgical repair for congenital heart defects?

Most people don’t.  If you are far too young for heart disease, but experience symptoms like the ones listed above…..please complain loudly to your health care provider.

Be heard and live!

If you are listening to the American Heart Association, be aware that they promote profitable Cholesterol Lowering Drugs without warning us of the dangers.
