Relax! Do You Sweat the Small Stuff?

Recovering my computer this past weekend (again) sure didn’t feel like SMALL stuff.

In the big picture, it isn’t something I will remember next week.

Relax!” I kept telling myself.  Yet I kept barking at my kids, and I could feel the tension creeping up the back of my neck.

Finally, I’d had enough of myself (and so had my kids), so I sat myself down to be still in silence.

Twenty minutes later, I felt a whole lot better.

Do you get anxious if you aren’t watching television, or listening to music, or reading a book, or busy with some other distraction?

If you will be still in silence, you will become aware of the tension that lives in your body.  That is, IF you can stand the stillness long enough to let yourself become aware of it.

This stored tension will squeeze the life out of you if you don’t release it!

How do you relax?

  • Drop everything and go for a walk.
  • Keep the big picture in mind.
  • Drink water, and eat whole food.
  • Have an attitude of gratitude.
  • Sit in quiet stillness.

As the “Life Breath Coach” I teach an action plan I call “BLESS” to take relaxation to a whole new level.

B- BREATH

Discover how your breathing makes you sick and what you can do about it.

L- LOVE

Learn how to navigate life from your heart space.  Love really is the answer.

E- EAT

Become aware of the poison in the US food supply and find our why it is so hard to nourish your health with food.

Food really is your medicine IF it has not been altered with genetic modification.

S- SIT

Sit in quiet stillness everyday.

All of your answers are within you.

S- SPEAK

Sacred Breathing will give your Voice strength.

When you find solution to suffering it is your job to tell everyone who will listen.

Our loved ones and neighbors deserve to know the truth the medical merchants don’t want you to know!

Will yours be the next BLESSed life?

PS- If I had taken my good friend Lynn’s advice, my computer crash would have been much less stress.  Sometimes covering your bases just makes it easier to “chill”.

Check out Back Up Software Saves the Day on Lynn’s blog, and spare yourself the stress I muddled through, instead of enjoying my family this weekend.

If I had backed up my computer I’d have found some time to relax this weekend!

PPS– Remember everyday:

  • Relax and Release tension
  • Exhale Slowly
  • Be active in a way that adds joy to your life

Plus pure water ~whole foods~sunshine~and laughter

Definition Of Happiness: Did You Know That Your Health, Wealth, and Happiness Depend On Your Breath?

Definition of happiness

What’s your definition of happiness?

Did You Know That Your Health, Wealth, and Happiness Depend On Your Breathing?

In fact science tells us that your breathing will determine the length and quality of your life!

Count your breathes per minute.  Is it under 10/minute?  You might want to have someone else count, since as soon as you put your focus on your breathing you alter it.

Lung volume is a primary marker for how long you will live, but breathing efficiently is much more than taking a deep breath.

Bad breathing habits erode healthy breathing without you even noticing.

Past the mid twenties the average person loses 9–25% of their lung capacity per decade!

When I started teaching rehabilitation, I thought that the cause of this decline in lung function was from “couch potato syndrome”.  You know, from not moving enough.

Inactivity sure has a lot to do with disease, but I saw folks who were always working and pushing themselves too hard!

They weren’t lazy, but they had rapid-shallow-breathing and they just couldn’t seem to catch their breath!

Do you know why these hard working folks suffered the same shallow breathing that couch potatoes do? Continue reading Definition Of Happiness: Did You Know That Your Health, Wealth, and Happiness Depend On Your Breath?

How Do You Take Care of Yourself When You Don’t Have Time To Catch Your Breath?

Life can keep you running 24/7!

Even my retired friends tell me they just don’t know where the days go.

They say they got more done when they were chasing their tails.  Some have jumped into new activities that keep them just as busy as ever.

Sound familiar?

Do you take care of yourself?

Catch your breath

The most important way to “catch your breath” is by finding the time to relax every muscle in your body and be still, for a few minutes everyday.

  • Releasing the tension will actually allow you to breathe more deeply.
  • By checking in with yourself, you allow a chance to get centered, and to find out “how you are”.
  • Just becoming aware of your feelings, offers the opportunity to release them.
  • When you have “arrived” at a state of relaxation, you are able to access your intuition, and your day becomes much more efficient.
  • Surrender is a very beneficial vantage point, accepting what IS allows you to move forward.
  • Though it seems like relaxation should come naturally, it actually requires consistent practice to get results.

Down Time Is Important BUT So Is Being Active!

  •  Inactivity will lead you to an early death.
  • Your heart is a muscle, if you don’t give it work to do, it will become progressively weaker.
  • If you are concerned about diabetes, depression, or heart failure, you should be concerned about getting active!

Catch your breath, and then find an active way to enjoy your day!
