If you have ever suffered from significant fluid retention you know how UNCOMFORTABLE it is!
Hell, it’s down right painful!
There’s that fluid retention for women during their monthly, but then there is a whole ‘nother level of suffering when the fluid retention really starts to effect the way you absorb oxygen, nourishment, vitamins and minerals.
When your fluid retention begins to interfere in your bodily processes, you will be painfully aware of it!
People tend to minimize the severity of fluid retention because their doctors don’t seem to get very worked up about it … until they see end of life issues, anyway.
You should know that the reason your doctor does not take action concerning your fluid retention is because drugging fluid retention is NOT a healthy thing to do!
If you retain fluid to the point that your ankles are swelling, your fluid retention issue HAS become an obstacle to your vibrant health and wellness.
Significant ankle swelling means that you are experiencing LIFE THREATENING issues!
It does not matter if there is no “diagnosed” illness to go along with your fluid retention! If you are seeing significant swelling at your ankles, your fluid retention IS interfering with the absorption of oxygen, nourishment, vitamins and minerals!
Fluid retention IS a really big deal!
“So, how do I get my ankles to stop swelling?”
That is a very good question!
Finding your solutions will mean the difference between vital health and wellness and steady deterioration for you.
What Causes Fluid Retention?
Good question! One you’ll need to know the answer to in order to solve the mystery of what is causing your fluid retention.
- Infection or toxic overload
The wonderful woman who inspired me to create Heart Failure Solutions.com died as a result of three feet of rotting bowel that was never addressed until it was too late!
- Liver Failure
- Kidney Failure
Both Liver and Kidney Failure are not hard for your doctor to diagnose.
- Dehydration
Believe it or not, the best thing you can do early on for water retention is to drink more water. Countless chemical reactions in your body require water.
- Hormone issues
Ask your doctor to test for hormone issues if fluid retention is a regular issue for you.
- Vitamin and mineral deficiency
Even if you eat a wide variety of whole foods, you can still suffer from insufficient absorption. You may have a deficiency and not be aware of it.
The seemingly “magical” cure of many chronic ailments using specific nutritional supplementation has been well documented.
- Food or food additive intolerance/sensitivity/allergy
Many sensitive people can not tolerate chemicalized foods. As well, eating the same foods all the time is likely to cause intolerance, which is why eating a wide variety of whole foods is so important.
The United States allows many food additives in our food supply that other countries do not. There is an alarming increase in troubling symptoms that can be traced by to our food supply.
MSG and high fructose corn syrup are two additives that you should fear, yet millions are being spent to convince you NOT to fear them!
If your gut lining has been damaged, a condition known as Leaky Gut Syndrome, you are definitely going to experience intolerance, sensitivity, and allergy as food is being absorbed directly into the blood stream, where it should not be, causing immune response and water retention, as well as plenty of discomfort.
- Environmental intolerance/sensitivity/allergy
Here again, any time you have an allergic reaction (or a sensitivity reaction), you experience an immune response, and your body will retain fluid in an attempt to dilute the offending substance.
Chemical cleaners and fumes released from carpets, draperies, furniture may be contributors. Be creative and listen to your intuition when trying to isolate any possible environmental irritation. It may not be obvious.
- Insufficient caloric intake
If fluid is your issue, then even a very low calorie diet will not take weight off. Since your body will retain water when it is starving, some people may need to INCREASE quantity and/or quality of calories in order to shed the excess fluid.
Enzymes and Probiotics may be helpful by aiding in digestion, improving absorption of nutrients, and repairing the intestinal wall.
As you can see, the solution to your fluid retention may not be obvious for many reasons.
However, if you have other health concerns, you should take fluid retention as seriously as chest pain.
It might be easier to ignore than chest pain, but ignoring it may rob you of many quality years!
