You’ve got nothing to lose but pounds …. right?
Wrong!
I started this post asking if weight loss tips can be dangerous.
That is a really good question, one that you should be asking yourself.
How can weight loss tips be dangerous?
I have a good friend. I’ll call her Janie.
Janie’s daughter became involved with a nutrition company. She was so excited about the results she was getting. More energy, weight loss, improvement in her son’s ADD … she just couldn’t believe how wonderful this product was!
Soon Janie’s daughter was insisting that everyone in the family take a variety of products that the company had to offer.
Janie valued nutrition, so was agreeable to taking the supplements that her daughter bought for her.
When I came by for our usual monthly luncheon, Janie was all a buzz about the increased energy she felt and the weight loss that her daughter was already experiencing from using these new products.
Out of curiosity I asked to see the packaging so I could read up on the ingredients of the products Janie was taking. In doing so, I noticed that one of the bottles said “Do Not Take If You Have Hyper-tension”.
Since I knew that Janie was on high blood pressure medication, I cautioned her against using the product and went to my car to retrieve my bag containing my blood pressure cuff.
Though she protested while I measured her blood pressure … she was going to lose weight so her blood pressure wouldn’t be a problem anymore … she surrendered her position when her blood pressure was dangerously high.
Though Janie had a blood pressure cuff, she said she had been feeling so well, she just hadn’t thought to check it.
Many good nutritional supplements cause detox.
Detox isn’t bad, unless it is TOO much for YOU, and it stresses your liver causing your blood pressure to rise.
A spike in your blood pressure can damage your heart and might just be enough to bring on a heart failure crisis.
Recently a beautiful woman who was bubbly, positive and active in one of my networking groups dropped dead of heart failure.
She had been promoting the same products that my dear friend Janie had been taking.
Coincidence? Maybe.
However, this beautiful woman graduated from high school in 1983. (So did I, that makes her almost 46.)
One week before she died, she was feeling fine and unaware that she was facing any health issue.
My only point in sharing this information with you is to make you aware that good products meant to nurture you CAN be very dangerous if they cause your blood pressure to rise.
So … even if you don’t have high blood pressure …
Please, please, please be careful to monitor your blood pressure while taking any medication or supplement.
There are physical signs of high blood pressure, but you may not be aware that there is any problem what so ever!
Detox is only good for you if it is SAFE!!
